BMW was going to extend my dad’s 7 lease until these came out. I’m very proud that he allowed me to direct him to the 3-series wagon instead. It’s a better, less annoying car in SO many ways. Driving it compared to the 7 is like that feeling in winter you get when you’ve been in a coat all day and you FINALLY take it off at the end of the day. It’s roomier, has actual usable cup holders, room to store things that have volume, and while it’s not quite as fast in a straight line, it doesn’t feel like such a hassle to get it around town. You don’t have to bend space time to go fast like it feels like you do in a 7.

Interior, the W222 is much better than the W221, but overall I still like the W221 better.

Why? I agree that the W221 was a good looking (I believe most people called it “stately”), but the W222is better looking, has a nicer interior, and has better powertrains. The only other argument is presence, which I don't buy 100%.

Yes, the W221 just has more presence on the road. I seriously have mistaken the W222 for the new C-Class on numerous occasions.

Here is my neighbor’s C-Class and S-Class. They look pretty similar, right? Parked right next to each other it’s easy to tell which is which because the size difference is apparent. But when seeing each one individually it becomes harder to differentiate the two.

That's not to say I don't like the new S-Class, because I do and I think they are fantastic cars. It's just that the old one had something the new one doesn't...
